Are those low-cost international phone cards any good?

I have relatives in Canada who phone me using cards that cost just $4 which enable them to talk on the phone for approx. a dollar an hour. I should like to get a similar deal when I phone them from the UK! I have seen phone cards offered on the internet and in newsagents' shop windows here but it all seems too good to be true. Is there a catch with these cards? Are they all genuine? Are they safe? Can you really get something for almost nothing? Am I too suspicious?

your best bet would be www.voice yahoo.com of www.skype.com

yes, and you have all these scammers right here on yahoo!
Reply:I am not originally from the United KIngdom and when I first arrived, I also thought it was suspicious that the cards are so cheap and that there was some sort of catch, but there is no catch really.

Pop down to any local convenience store, they have plenty to choose from, read the posters in the window or dig around the internet. I will advise you that some charge what they call a "connecting fee"... it is not much but everytime you dial, you pay that fee.... so stay clear of them if you can...
Reply:Sign your relatives up for skype.. its free and chat free too

Reply:Calling from UK to Canada, the best rate is 2 cents / min with maintenance fee, or 2.9 cents / min without maintenance fee. The currency is USD.

These calling cards work. I buy some of them to call from Canada to China for more than 1 year. Safe and convenient.
