What calling card (phone card) can I buy in the US so I can call the US from France on my Trip?

I saw a Sprint International Phone Card that said things about calling from the U.S. to other countries. I haven't seen any cards that say anything about calling from a country to the U.S.

Do I need to wait until I get to the country to get the phone card? Or where should I go to get one in this country? Where do I get one in France if I get one there, I'll be with a group and may not be stopping at many convenience stores.

Thanks so much.

What calling card (phone card) can I buy in the US so I can call the US from France on my Trip?
A few French companies sell calling cards on the Internet.

(not all have a website in English)

Examples:

http://www.iradium.fr

http://www.centraltelecom.fr/cartes-tele...

Most have connection costs. Read the small print.
Reply:Paris has plenty of small Internet cafés %26amp; Telecom shops that sell a variety of calling cards, esp. in the "ethnic" neighborhoods. But since you will be in a group, you probably won't get near one such shop. Hence my suggestion to look at French telecom websites. Report Abuse

Would my phone work if I switched the cards or chips from my mom's phone and my phone? Both are V220.?

I wanted to see if I switched the cards or chips from the back of the phones, that if I called my phone it would ring on my mom's phone. Both of them are Motorolla V220's.

Would my phone work if I switched the cards or chips from my mom's phone and my phone? Both are V220.?
Yep... your 'phone' is really the sim card.. it contains your account number and even some of your saved phone numbers . The hand set is just that..

Switch the cards and her handset becomes your phone.

So if you break your phone or get a new one via someplace like eBay, all you have to do is insert your sim card in the new phone set.

Where can I buy (online or physical store) phone cards to call from South Korea to the US?

You can find phone cards at most convenient stores (ministop, etc.).

You can also dial 00388-(then the US phone number) and it will be 10 cents a minute. For example: 00388-14051111111. I use this all the time to call my family.

Also, you can use skype and it will be free if you talk to your family/friends through the internet.

Where can I buy (online or physical store) phone cards to call from South Korea to the US?
no no .. honestly, I have this down to a science.

Do you go to Itaewon ever?

Do you know the street with Foreign Food Mart? (It is next to What The Book?) Foreign Food MArt has the very best deals on phone cards to the USA.

Just tell them that you need the cheapest card for calling the USA. The name/card with the best deal changes often, so don't keep asking for the same card... He will charge you less than the amount on the card and you will get the cheapest minutes... i promise. I have been known to take Bus#110 there ONLY to get the card... it is worth it.
Reply:You are in Korea I am assuming, so Family Mart or 7-11.....I guess there are other places also, but that's where I always got my phone cards. I think most convenience stores would have them.

Hope it helps

Reply:I got a pretty cheap card at 7-11, but they sell it at Buy the Way too. About 4 cents a minute. You have to ask the cashier for it though, because they keep them in a binder behind the counter.

What is a cheap phone that supports SD cards, MP3 playback and MSN Messaging?

I've just sold my PDA phone and I'm looking for a replacement that doesn't cost too much but plays MP3 files and supports SD cards - does anyone have any suggestions? : )

What is a cheap phone that supports SD cards, MP3 playback and MSN Messaging?
A normal phone that would fit all of these would be the Nokia 6133. It is sold through T-Mobile, supports MicroSD, MP3 playback, FM radio, has MSN, Yahoo, AOL, and ICQ messenger. Need any more details?
Reply:If you are looking for sleek phone then get a phone that uses microSD rather than SD. The phones that have SD card reader will be bulkier. (more of PDA size).

What is a professional way to announce new business address and phone, like form post cards?

I want to find either something I can do myself (mass print on inkjet at office) or a service that can ECONOMICALLY do this for me. I could use a form letter but I do not know where to find one. And I need to do this quickly! I have been using various temporary contact numbers and PMB for several months now and this is hurting my clients and my future business.

What is a professional way to announce new business address and phone, like form post cards?
The above answers are great. You can also go to OfficeMax or Staples, tell the people at the copy center what you need, and someone can design and print it up for you all at one place. It's not that expensive. I had to do it for my job a long time ago. I can't remember the pricing since I don't deal with paying the bills and stuff like that, but I know that it was a very easy process. Good luck!

Can a SIM cards be inserted into another phone?

I want to keep Cingular phone service, but their phones suck! If I buy a phone directly from the manufacturer, say, Nokia, will I be able to insert the SIM card into the new phone? (My current phone is LG.) Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm technologically challenged!

Can a SIM cards be inserted into another phone?
Yes. Bit of the phone is "locked" you have to unlock it first. It's mostly pay-as-you-go phones that are locked; but others obtained at concessional prices (or free) may also be locked.

You can do it by getting a code online or for free, or a shop can do it, often for $10 or £10.

Google %26lt;unlock phones%26gt; or try the sites below.
Reply:As someone who used to work for a cell phone company, I can guarantee you the answer is "no". Different manuafacturers use different SIM cards....No dice!
Reply:Yes
Reply:sometimes the phone needs to be unlocked
Reply:i guess, maybe you should talk to another phone agents or talk to the agents who makes the phone
Reply:yes.....i do it when I go over seas....wink!
Reply:Yes, I am assuming you meant to buy an unlocked phone from the Internet. Unlocked phones don't have restrictions on bands and provider coverage. You could however, also unlock your current LG phone for a small price at certain places on the web.
Reply:If you purchase a phone from Nokia you need to make sure its GSM capable and it has the 1900 and 850 frequency. Normally when you purchase phones from the manufacture they are already unlocked. They are only locked if you purchase from a wireless provider. Also if you purchase a phone straight from Nokia be sure to call your provider to configure your phone so you can use the internet and picture messaging. Cingular doesnt charge to do it and its simple.
Reply:Yes . You can insert sim card into other cell phones (only if you can remove it from your original Cingular phone)

T-Mobile %26amp; Cingular (At%26amp;t) use the SIM card technology. Verizon and Sprint do not. Phones with SIM card features are better because they can be used overseas as you mentioned. Therefore, you will have a hard time using your Verizon or Sprint phone overseas..

Why can't someone steal phone cards?

I was recently in Wal-Mart and these two kids(about 8 or 9) were stealing phone cards, the pre-paid ones, I think tracfone or something like that. The Lady caught them and told them they are worth nothing, so they didn't get in trouble. I didn't think much of it then, but then I started wondering, why wouldn't they work? I mean I took a look at one and you can scratch the foil stuff off and see the number right? So why wouldn't they work? Something about activation? I've been wondering about this. Well, any help is appreciated and won't encourage me to steal, lol. Thanks for any help.

Why can't someone steal phone cards?
They are activated through the POS terminal. They communicate the serial number to the phone company.
Reply:My friend works at Wal-Mart and we usually just have her scan about 10 or 20 200 minute cards for us each week, we never pay though. She just scans them, then we enter the minutes, easy as that.
Reply:They can only be activated at the register... U know kinda like a gift card, but it's for calling people.
Reply:In order for the Cards to work, when they scan it at checkout, it activates the minutes for the activation process when you call in to add them onto your phone.

So you do have to buy them in order for them to actually "be there" .

Need advice on phone cards for Europe?

My daughter is travelling to Europe in June from Australia. I believe that we can purchase a prepaid phone card for her to phone home. I don't know anything about them and have tried searching the internet and am now more confused than when I started. Does anyone have advice on what is a good card to purchase that is easy and economical to use? Would appreciate the help. Thanks

Need advice on phone cards for Europe?
I think a cell phone would be easier. With a cell phone, you can call her to check on how things are going and she can call you.

If you have a tri-band or quad-band phone-GSM phone, she can purchase a 20 Euro SIM card :It will give you.10-.29 Euro per minute rates (depending on whether I was calling another cell or a land line.) Buying SIM cards is easy while on the ground in Europe, you can go into many phone shops (they are **everywhere**) and buy one quite cheaply and in a matter of minutes. Incoming calls are FREE with every mobile provider in Europe(When you phone her, she doesn't pay when receiving calls)

Here are some sites that will be of help.

Purchasing a cell phone from this site I would highly recommend. It is easy to use.

http://www.ekit.com

You can also purchase a new, unlocked GSM tri-band phone online (http://www.myworldphone.com) for about $89USD, and a SIM card.

Also, purchasing calling cards are easy. She can go to a newstand or a tabacco shop in Italy and purchase them. I would recommend that she purchase one for at least 20 euros. She must specify which country she would like it for.

Skype would be a great option as well. http://www.skype.com

Most internet cafes have the Skype service. Just ask and it is free to use and they have the headsets. This program allows you to call anyone in the world for free. If I wanted to call my mom's cell phone or land line, it costs 1.2 cents a minute. Translation. That is $1.12 an hour!! This is a good option for her to keep in touch with you , but a cell phone will help in case of emergency etc. So, I would use this option as only another alternative to talking to you when she is writing e-mails to friends. You need a high speed internet connection to use Skype.

Here are some Cybercafe links so that you can find the nearest one to you on your travels.

http://www.thenetgate.it/

http://cybercaptive.com/

Note:

Free Internet Access at Libraries

In many places internet access is free at public libraries with, on average, a 30 minute time limit. . Ask the hotel desk where the local library is located. So rather than waste a lot of money in an internet cafe or on an expensive phone card you may want to go to a public library instead. Most likely will not have the Skype capability , but she can write e-mails.

I highly recommend the cell phone as her way as well as yours to keep in touch. It is good for emergencies, making reservations, calling ahead to hotels , etc, If she will be traveling to several countries, she may have to purchase a separate sim card for that country. I would recommend that she ask the clerk at the store where she purchases her sim card in the first country what other countries can she use their card in. Anyway, I have given you some options.
Reply:Wow, lots of answers.. Um let's make it simple. AT%26amp;T Worldwide card. It's about as cheap as it gets and can be used anywhere. It also has the country code for the US on the back so as not to be forgotten.
Reply:Agree 100% with festblue .......................she should have the best answer
Reply:Every where in Europa you can buy phone cards for the public phone. You can buy this almost every where, and some countries has special deals on phone cards for certain countries. This depends the country where your daughter is.

A normal card will last for about 10 minutes and cost around 4 Euro, for calls within Europe. I don't know the price for calling outside of Europe, but this is also why they have made special deals for come countries.

Your daughter just have to go to a new stand etc. and ask for a phone card to Australia.

If you are looking for a phone card for her mobile, I have no idea how this works. It also depends which country she will go to.
Reply:Which countries your daughter will visit? The calling rate is a little different if you call from different countries. Generally, some cards are often used in Europe to call to Australia, like FastWorld, Tiger etc.

For example, calling from UK to Australia.

Check http://www.eecalling.com/p/?id_from_coun... to compare and find the best deal for calling cards.

Simple Cell Phone Question Regarding SIM Cards?

I'm on T-mobile and I was wondering if I could upgrade my phone by just buying a phone and then using my SIM card that I already have.

I just want to know because I kind of want a sidekick and I can't wait until my contract is up next spring.

Thanks in advance!

Simple Cell Phone Question Regarding SIM Cards?
Sure, upgrades usually use your existing SIM anyway. You're free to buy a new phone any time. Probably you're eligible for partial discounts right now, based on your contract ending next year, which you can check online at my.t-mobile.com.
Reply:Yup, you can do that. This way you can keep your contacts, pics, etc. You may want to add the sidekick unlimited plan which includes unlimited txt, internet, email, etc. There also supposed to be a cool new sidekick coming out this year, check that out!

Enjoy your sidekick
Reply:Normally, you could buy a phone that you can just insert your card in... however, Sidekick is a phone that is offered by T-Mo only w/ a plan, and is therefore locked. However, if you want other phones, you can get them from sites like:

cti-miami.com

welectronics.com

And you can just look up phone sellers online. Trust me, there are some way better phones than the sidekick for texting. Look up some of HTC's phones.
Reply:Yes that will work. Once the sim card is in the new phone everything will be just as it did in the other phone.
Reply:Yes you should be able to. Should be very easy.

Can you use calling cards with a cell phone?

I mean pre-purchased long-distance or international calling cards with which you dial an access number first, and then your destination number.

Can you use calling cards with a cell phone?
Yes you can but keep in mind you will still be using your local airtime minutes. All the calling card will do is avoid the long distance charges. So, depending on your usage and compare the long distance rates with your cellular service provider, using the calling card may be more economical for you.
Reply:Sure. You can find many cards like that. You will use your local airtime minutes. The calling card is much cheaper than cellphone company's long distance charge, even add your local airtime charges together.

Can you use a phone with any company that uses sim cards?
You must make sure the other company uses the same type of network. Some companies that offer the PTT feature use iDEN networks, while most companies such as T-Mobile use GSM networks. You cannot use an iDEN phone on a GSM network, or vice versa. Hope this helps.

Calling Cards from the US to a Spanish Cell phone?

most of them that i have seen are around 15 cents a min, is that normal, that seems like a lot of money?

i would love the names and web sites of some inexpensive calling cards.

i dont care about calling to a landline, only to a cell phone in spain.

thank you.

Calling Cards from the US to a Spanish Cell phone?
Try these phone cards http://www.phonebell.net/p/?id_from_coun...

Good luck!
Reply:I use Golden lotus, its only 8.3 c/min to cell in Spain, very good quality

derect link: http://www.masterdial.net/p/buy.php?idco...
Reply:That is about right, unfortunately. Many countries in Europe tax inbound cell phone calls.

There are five-dollar prepaid cards you can buy at your local dollar store, convenience store, or liquor store. There are posters by the counter which tell you how many minutes you would get for five dollars, and most of them to a cell phone in Spain will equate to about 10- to 15-cents per minute.
Reply:n2wiceover,

That rate is not bad if there are no additional fees. However, if you are looking for a cheaper rate/min, here are two cards you can consider.

The first is a low rate card called the Fast Track with a rate of 10¢/min (US to Spain cell phone), which has a maintenance fee. Use the card in one call to avoid the fee.

The second card is called the Aries, and has no additional fees, plus is rechargeable with a rate of 12.5¢/min (US to Spain cell phone). This is probably the best bet, but you have to be the one to decide which card is best for you.

Just make sure you compare "apples to apples" when looking at phone cards. Many times, the low rate cards are packed with fees.

Happy calling!
Reply:Calling from USA to Spain cellphone, the best rate is 8.3 cents / min with maintenance fee, or 17 cents / min without maintenance fee.

Check http://www.eecalling.com/p/?id_from_coun... to compare and find the best calling card for yourself.
Reply:Good luck! The calling cards seem to have one rate for landlines in Europe and another (much higher!) rate for cell phones. The best thing is to get them to call you, because they can buy super-cheap calling cards over there and call you, whether you're on a landline or cell phone. But, perhaps somebody else will know of one. I'll check back later to see!

note* I'm from Ontario, Canada

^^

Will international phone / calling cards work with virgin cell phones?
Well a calling card has mintues on it. If you are using the calling card from your phone, you will be using your regular mintues plus the calling card mintues.
Reply:I have come across a phone service that allows you to make international calls by simply dialing a local rate phone number. So if you can make free local calls (free inclusive minutes on your phone tariff), then this will be included and the international call will be free. See the links below for more details.... I have been using this service for over 12 months now and i also noticed that there is a special offer for new customers....

Best phone cards to call Iraq?

I have been buying different NYC calling cards and they average about 18cents a minute $5 for 30-40minutes. Is this about the best rate there is? I saw Sprint cells phone cards, does anyone know anything about them? I bought a $20 card off of nobel.com, what a RIP OFF. With the processing fee it was $22 for 1 hour.

Best phone cards to call Iraq?
the best i found was callingcards .com I am not trying to sell you on this but this is what i found. It is cheaper for the soldier to call you if they get a spawareurope card. I think it 2.5 cents a min and no connect fee. Again the soldier would have to call you.
Reply:This is the only phone card link you will ever need. You can compare Nobel cards to the others

Time Dial searches the top sites for phone cards. It is the only phone card site that calculates and compares the full cost of calling cards including all rates fees and surcharges.

Answer 6 questions and it tells you how much a phone card will cost you for a given period with your stated usage. This way you get the minutes stated.

Can you send music to a cell phone, and can you sent e-cards to a cell phone as well?

I need to know if there's a site where you can send e-cards to a cell phone, plus music, I have a few songs to send to a special friend and the only contact is on a cell phone.

Can you send music to a cell phone, and can you sent e-cards to a cell phone as well?
yes, click text to phone
Reply:if your phone can send emails, send a test message to your regular e-mail address. that will give you a return e-mail address to reply to directly to your phone. for instance, my provider is t-mobile, so me phone's email address is my phone number @ t-mo.net. yours might be something similar depending on your provider

then simply send a regular e-mail with a file attachment (midi, mp3, image, game, etc) to your phone
Reply:You can send music to your phone depends on the type of phone you.

A phone with an infrared or blue tooth can accept music or e-card to your phone your phone has a usb cable which is connected to your lap top .

You can directly send your music to your phone that is when the phone or the pc has a bluetooth or an infrared.

go to any musical site. get them to your phone.

Can someone explain to me how phone cards work? For Example does $20= 20 minutes?

I plan on buying a a pay as you go type of phone, i have an interest in virgin mobile, verizon impulse, etc. but can someone tell me if there are any hidden fees or monthy deductions the company may take, and does the amount you spend equal the number of minutes you have?

Can someone explain to me how phone cards work? For Example does $20= 20 minutes?
Well, I don't know if prepaid cards are different from where you are, but I have an account with T-Mobile and $25 dollars, which is close to $20, gets me 125 minutes.

There are no monthly deductions, as this is not a contract and you pay for your minutes before you use them. There shouldn't be any hidden fees, and with most services, you can check the amount of money/minutes you have left when you want to.
Reply:there are no hidden fees, and $20 usually equals 20 minutes, but one certain company, Tracfone, some times doubles their minutes. So $50 could equal 100 minutes. I have a Cingular Gophone, and $20= 20 minutes.
Reply:no 20 bucks is more like 200 minutes not twnety
Reply:i have virgin mobile and other then the activation fee you just buy top-up cards as you go if you choose the pay-as-you go plan and as long as you top up every 90 days there is no added fee. it is 25cents a minute for the first 10 minutes of the day and 10 cents a minute after that for that day. 5 cents per text. i wouldnt recommend virgin mobile because it is more expensive then most plans

I hear that phone cards are charged 35 minutes if you use them at a pay phone.?

I have several military members using phone cards at pay phones. I heard that the phone cards are automatically charged 35 minutes even if only used for a minute. This doesn't sound like they are making phone cards easy for military members!

Can I use Sprint/Nextel sim cards in a phone that's using Cingular sim card right now?

I heard that the Motorola i265 uses a sim card, I'm wondering if it's the same card as a quad band gsm phone uses...

Can I use Sprint/Nextel sim cards in a phone that's using Cingular sim card right now?
No, you can't. Even if you were to get the phone unlocked, it wouldn't work. Nextel uses iDEN technology, while Cingular uses GSM technology. Even though they both use sim cards, they are completely different technologies. An iDEN phone will ONLY work with a privider that uses iDEN technology. GSM phones will only work with providers that use GSM technologies.
Reply:No sorry you cant..Nextel is ran on IDEN tower..and Cingular is GSM technology...the Nextel phones will not support Cingular Sims or vise versa

Changing sim cards from one cell phone to another?

Okay, im currently using Cingular (now the new At%26amp;t) and my Motorola RAZR recently fell into water. Now it doesn't work from what I know, and I was wondering if I can take the SIM card from the RAZR and put it onto my Samsung phone which is also from Cingular. Will it work, and will it do damage to the other phone by any harms?

Changing sim cards from one cell phone to another?
No. All you can do is try and see if the card still works. As long as it didnt get fried then it should work. Give it a try, it won't hurt your Samsung at all. Good luck!
Reply:yes you can as switch the sim, if you can make/receive calls, then it's ok. if you get a sim error then your card may have been damaged. usually you can get your sim card wet and it will be ok to use it.
Reply:If it is fine, it will definitely work on your other Cingular phone. It cannot damage your Samsung phone, so you should put in the SIM and try it. If it does not work, then the problem is that the SIM card may have gotten damaged in the water, but the problem will not be because of any phone compatibility issues.

Can all samsung phone use sim cards?

does all samsung phone uses sim cards?

Can all samsung phone use sim cards?
No, some samsung phones actually run on the CDMA network (Verizon, Sprint, and their affiliate companies). GSM phones (AT%26amp;T, T-Mobile) from samsung will all use SIM cards. If there is a particular phone you are trying to find, perhaps go to the samsung website and search under GSM phones, or search under one of the GSM companies I mentioned to see if the phone you are looking for is GSM or is CDMA

As a side note, one phone by Samsung works on both the CDMA and GSM networks, but the GSM function only works when outside of North America in a country with no CDMA access. This would be the Samsung ACE smartphone. I'm sure there are other phones like this from Samsung and other manufacturers though.

Hope this helps some eh?
Reply:No not at all. Samsung phones do not all use sim cards. It all depends on your wireless carrier, because some carriers like AT%26amp;T require a sim card to function while Verizon has the Samsung Glide, that does not require a sim card.
Reply:No. they have to have a sim card slot, or it is not possible. Samsung carries phones for companies which use completely different technology and no sim cards

the minutes you use will still be deducted unless you have free weekends/nights etc. so it's best to use calling cards when you have the free minutes. but long distance will not be charged to your phone

Would selling phone and camera memory cards be a good eBay business?

I have discovered a number of websites selling memory cards reasonably cheap and I was wondering if there would be a good market on eBay. Also any tips on the best ways of inticing people to buy from you.

Thanks a lot.

Would selling phone and camera memory cards be a good eBay business?
Easiest way to find out whether you could make a profit...check to see how much they typically sell for on E*Bay and compare that to the price you're going to buy them for from your supplier. Then you'll know your profit margin.
Reply:your business is what "you"make it to be.

Cingular go phone.

You can buy the phone for 19.78 and it comes with $10 worth of minutes. (at walmart)

Calling cards and phone booths?

I'm planning on visiting Canada - if i get a calling card can i use is from a public phone booth? or do i have to get a landline?

Calling cards and phone booths?
Most calling cards work from telephone booths. That's why they were designed in the first place- for people on the go so that they would not have to carry pocket change.

Be aware that there is usually a surcharge for using the card from a payphone. It's to reimburse the payphone owner/company for the use of their phone.

Check with your local phone comany. Many of them can send you a card that allows you to make calls and bills you later on your local phone bill. Ask the rates. Otherwise, you'll need to buy pre-paid cards, and they can get used up very quickly.
Reply:definately

most cards allow call from booth

find one here: http://www.masterdial.net
Reply:if you are going to use a phone booth, make sure your calling card has a toll free number..

but... if you are going to use a calling card from a phone where you have free local calling (perhaps the hotel allows free local calling) then you can get a calling card with a local access number... cards with local access numbers are usually cheaper then cards with toll free access numbers..
Reply:Virtually all prepaid phone cards charge a pay-phone fee. Consider this fee when comparing cards. This fee will be charged for each call you make, so consider buying a smaller denomination to allow you to use the card in one call, thus avoiding any additional fees the carrier might assess when you hang up.
Reply:You can use it the same way that you use it at home. It just take longer punching in all those numbers. Of couse you need to put the coin in the public phone first so you ca dial out.
Reply:Try this http://www.phonebell.net/

Changing sim cards from one cell phone to another?

I have a crappy old Cingular cell phone that I would like to take the sim card out of and put in another phone. I do not want to purchase a new plan, so I was looking at phones on ebay. Has anyone ever done this and have any advice on what I shoud/should not be looking for? Thanks!

Changing sim cards from one cell phone to another?
As long as you get another cingular phone it will be fine. Just take out your old card and put it in your new phone. It's no problem at all.
Reply:its ok man.... go change now
Reply:it didn't work for me but you should still try it.
Reply:I had the same problem, kinda. I bought my brother's pay as you go Cingular flip phone because I liked it better then my plan Cingular bar phone. It wouldn't work even though they were both from Cingular. I did some research on the net and found out that most phones have some sort of programming in them so that they can only be used for what they were intended and only by that company. Apparently the purpose of this was to make the phone company's more money. Every time you switch service you have to get a new phone instead of being able to use your old one. Someone figured out how to unlock them though. There are plenty of places on the net that will do it for a small fee. I think around 10 dollars or so. Make sure that you find a reputable place before sending them your phone. What would be easier though if you are lookin to get a new phone, would be to get one from ebay that has already been unlocked. Meaning that you can use it with whatever service contractor you would like. Just make

sure that the phone has all the features that you like. For instance if you get a plan from Cingular that has the new PTT, the walkie talkie type feature, included in the plan, unless the phone itself has that feature included in that model it will be useless to you. If you go to ebay and look up cell phones it will bring up a list and if you look at the bottom left hand side of the screen there should be alot of guides there written about what to look for when buying phones on ebay. Hope this helps
Reply:Oh this is an easy one, I have cingular as well and have gone through so many phones. Go ahead and purchase a new or used phone on E-bay-- make sure its one that your provider uses aka motorola and that it can take a sim card. Contact the seller of the phone you want and ASK questions. Its really easy to switch the sim card out though :)
Reply:I believe you have to get another cingular phone. Then you just pop the card out and put it into the new phone. I had nextel and did just that. It worked out fine.

Toshiba laptop has a wirless internet switch so I expect I dont require additional hardware. As I have internet on PC, I dont want to spend so much more to get wirless access for the laptop. SYDNEY AUSTRALIA

I heard about a prepaid card similar to phone cards for my new laptop? Help! ?
you only need a wireless router CNET.COM has reviews and can save you time in choosing what will work for you. i went with the Pre N has distance and covers all the speeds for old and new devices i have price was under 100. routers start around 20 and go up around 300 it all depends what you want. the existing internet cable modem or whatever your provider gave you connects to trouter then desktop does as well as printer etc... the laptop will connect via wireless which on most is easy to set up. be sure to network so your desktop and laptop can transfer files when you need it.
Reply:You can use your existing internet connection for both Desktop and laptop at the same time but u need some additional hardware which is not so expensive these days You need a wireless access point. but you don't need any additional hardware on your laptop.

Do phone cards work with any phone?

Not just prepaid phones?

Do phone cards work with any phone?
Typically, Yes.

"Phone Card" is really just a term used to identify a type of long-distance calling service access.

Phone Cards are really a variation on "dial-around" long distance services, in which you by-pass your local long-distance carrier. Dial-around and Calling Card services usually offer substantially lower rates than your default long distance carrier.

Typically, to initiate calls through your Calling Card service, they provide you with an "access number". If the Access Number is in your local calling area code, it is usually a free call to the long-distance "gateway". Once in the gateway, you are then charged by the calling card carrier at their agreed upon rates. So, it doesn't matter if you call from home, work, cell, or payphone, or a 1-800 access number, your call will generally go through your calling card carrier.

But, of course be careful when doing this from cells and pay-phones. You still pay for the cellphone air time and the payphone local calling charges.
Reply:Read what is indicated on the back of the card, it should tell you if you can use it on any phone.

Can i switch sim cards with another phone?

My phone is a motorola v170 and the phone i want to switch with is a nokia 6010 the sim card fits but when i turn it on it asks for a pin code how do i figure out what the pin code is?

Can i switch sim cards with another phone?
most likely your nokia 6010 is 'locked' to the previous provider, you need to unlock first

try to unlock here: http://unlock.nokiafree.org/
Reply:It is either a PIN which you set on your old phone, but maybe you forgot it. If not that, then get in touch with Motorola and ask them what the PIN is on your old sim.

Which pre-pay phones use GSM SIM cards, and can I put that SIM card into a perfectly fine bluetooth phone?

We have a perfectly fine bluetooth cell phone, and we have vehicles that utilize bluetooth for hands free dialing etc. We want to get a pre-pay phone and we're wondering if either there is a company who makes a pre-pay bluetooth version or if we can swap the SIM (GSM) card from a pre-pay phone and put it in our bluetooth phone... and will it work. Thanks!

Which pre-pay phones use GSM SIM cards, and can I put that SIM card into a perfectly fine bluetooth phone?
You don't find many phones on the market today that don't have the Bluetooth feature. To use one SIM card in another phone, the phone must either be unlocked or from the same provider. Cingular used to be a GSM system, I would think AT%26amp;T did continue the same system.

I understand that there are "cards" that the cell phone people sell that can be used to make your computer

work anywhere there is a cell phone signal. We are planning a long RV trip before long, and instead of trying to find wifi spots while "on the road," I thought it would be nice to have one of those "cards." Do I understand correctly that they work anywhere there is a signal from the company selling the card? Do they require a long term contract for these "cards," or can we just buy a card for three or four months? I hope I have written this question correctly. I am fairly new to the computer age.

I understand that there are "cards" that the cell phone people sell that can be used to make your computer
With AT%26amp;T, our air card is $60/month. You get the card for $49 if you sign a two year contract. If you don't want a two year contract, you can buy the card at full price, which is 250, I believe. You then add a feature to your account called Data Connect Unlimited, which is $70/month, and can be left on for as long as you want/don't want.

You have a thirty day return policy if you want to return the air card.

hello, i would try either best buy or walmart. i had to buy some for my brother who is over seas and that's where i got mine and i thought they were relatively cheap
Reply:This website is okay, but make sure you don't pick the first card with the lowest cents a minute. It might not work. I went with the World Calls one. It charges 7.3 cents a minute, with some additional fees, but for $20 I got almost 2 hours of talk time. That blows Sprint international cards out of the water. They email your pin to you, and it's rechargeable.

What kinds of things now might be future collectibles? I heard phone cards may be future collectibles.?

It just doesn't work that way. The minute you start to collect something with an eye towards future value, it becomes not collectible because everyone else has the same idea. Collect because you love something.

.

What kinds of things now might be future collectibles? I heard phone cards may be future collectibles.?
It seems like very time you turn around some one some where is slapping the term "collectors" edition on something. Who knows any more things i have collected over ther years are not worth any more than what i paid for them. I think it's more for counsumers so they thing they will amek money from it in the future so the stores benefit from you buying it.
Reply:I don't collect them but phone cards have been a collectible for some years now. I see a few ads once in a while in Numismatic News the weekly coin paper. I bet there is a Yahoo group and I know there is a club. As to how big it will get depends on some one coming up and pushing the idea. Most collectibles end up as fads and that is the end of it. Stamps were nice one time until they just printed to many different kinds. Coins are doing okay as long as one sticks to the older coins and has a goal. A nice twentieth century type set can be put together today without going bankrupt and one can up grade it as money allows. That will be worth something in the future. All this nonsense on error coins has to go bust sooner or later. I have noticed more and more people are becoming aware that some medals and tokens are very scarce and people are paying very high for them. I was also amazed that a glass bead sold at auction for over $25,000. It was old and rare but that is a lot for a glass bead. Yes I must say 7,590,020 is also a lot for a twenty dollar gold piece. Some of the modern commemorative coins if one checks has a very low mintage so some one collecting these may do well also. That is my 2 cents worth, there has to be more opinions out there so give your 2 cents worth.
Reply:It's difficult to know for sure what will be collectible but here are some good guidelines.

If it's made to be collectible it probably won't be. The market determines what is valuable and it's usually NEVER special limited edition fads that are called collectible by the company that makes them.

If your in the US collect US items.

Good US Silver Coins

Hand made things that are very well crafted.

Things that there is more of a demand than there is a supply for, but not a fake demand.

All of the classic collectibles will always be collectible, old baseball cards, postcards, marbles, trains, matchbox and hotwheels.

Things that change and influence a generation.

True collectibles usually become collectible when the generation that had them as kids, can afford to buy them on the secondary market. In otherwords people collect their childhood items, but not all of them, just the ones that had a big impact.

If I had to take a Wild Guess today, I'd go w' Teletubbies, Tomas the Train, Power Rangers etc.

I've been selling collectibles for more than 25 years and these are some things I've found out.

If your interested, I run a free online antiques appraisal blog, check out the source box below.

Peace

The best way to find out what will be collectible is to find out what was in the past.

Can I switch sim cards in my cell phone without damage?

I have a LG phone and it is broken, can I put the sim card into my old Nokia phone and have it work?

Can I switch sim cards in my cell phone without damage?
You should be able to as long as you are staying with the same provider. If you switch providers {i.e. from cingular to altell} then you can't. The good news is that if you are switching providers and you go to an authorized dealer of the new provider, they should have a sim card reader. It can take the information from the old sim card and put it on a new one that will work in your phone. I just went through the same thing.
Reply:I think you can. Sim cards are designed to swap between phones.
Reply:Sure you can, as long as the Sim card is not damaged
Reply:Yeah you can but the Nokia phone has to be SIM ready, or it won't work
Reply:Yeah, I am pretty sure that will work. I have switched mine back and forth between a motorola, and LG and a Blackberry, and they all worked fine.

Phone cards for military in Iraq?

Friend of a friend has been activated.

We've heard only some cards work? Anyone know which? Or which are better?

Also there was a rumor about these getting stolen in the mail - is that just a rumor?

Thanks!

Phone cards for military in Iraq?
It really depends on where they are in Iraq. Unfortunately not all of the camps have the same major provider. At one came I was at AT%26amp;T was fine but when we move to another you had to get a Segovia card and then a different one latter on. For most you can get a cash type accout through the internet( no physical card, just a 'card number') and add to it when needed.
Reply:The phone cards that my husband and I use are the AT%26amp;T Global prepaid phone card. Your best bet is to get them online at: http://www.consumer.att.com/prepaidcard/ OR if there is a military base near by, and you or your friend have an ID card, buy them from the PX and e-mail the person in Iraq the Pin #.

I know that if you order them from AAFES.com, they send them directly to the soldier, and I am sure they package them specifically so that people recognize what is inside...so there is a chance they could get stolen.

That is why I suggest getting your hands on one yourself, and e-mailing him/her the pin #.
Reply:The best found so far is a company my husband uses. It's called Spawar. It's 4 cents a min to call back to the states. Everything is done over the internet so troops don't need to worry about losing phone cards or getting them stolen. Minutes can be added from back here or over there.
Reply:go to AAFES.com and you can by phone cards and have them sent to your friend that is depolyed.

This is the only item the non-military memebers can by from AAFES. and these phone cards will work in where in the world.

What is the best website for phone cards to call India?

I use this service called Owtel. You just need to call customer service and register your telephone number. You call this toll free number and just dial the telephone number. You get charge by the minutes you used. I don't like using phone cards because they cheat. It would say you have this many minutes but in reality you only get half of it. Owtel sends you a monthly bill and you just pay what you have use...

Go to www.owtel.com

Only 14 cents - a call to India...

Good luck!

What is the best website for phone cards to call India?
Calling from USA to India, the best rate is 4.4 cents / min with connection fee and maintenance fee, or 4.8 cents / min with only maintenance fee, or 8.5 cents / min without connection fee and maintenance fee.

Are those low-cost international phone cards any good?

I have relatives in Canada who phone me using cards that cost just $4 which enable them to talk on the phone for approx. a dollar an hour. I should like to get a similar deal when I phone them from the UK! I have seen phone cards offered on the internet and in newsagents' shop windows here but it all seems too good to be true. Is there a catch with these cards? Are they all genuine? Are they safe? Can you really get something for almost nothing? Am I too suspicious?

Are those low-cost international phone cards any good?
your best bet would be www.voice yahoo.com of www.skype.com

http://www.skype.com/

http://www.voice.yahoo.com/

yes, and you have all these scammers right here on yahoo!
Reply:I am not originally from the United KIngdom and when I first arrived, I also thought it was suspicious that the cards are so cheap and that there was some sort of catch, but there is no catch really.

Pop down to any local convenience store, they have plenty to choose from, read the posters in the window or dig around the internet. I will advise you that some charge what they call a "connecting fee"... it is not much but everytime you dial, you pay that fee.... so stay clear of them if you can...
Reply:Sign your relatives up for skype.. its free and chat free too

http://skype.com
Reply:Try these phone cards http://www.phonebell.net/p/?id_from_coun...
Reply:there are some that are good and cheaper too. you can try calling onesuite.com its an online card that u can call and by simply buying online will give u that cheap long distance service
Reply:Calling from UK to Canada, the best rate is 2 cents / min with maintenance fee, or 2.9 cents / min without maintenance fee. The currency is USD.

These calling cards work. I buy some of them to call from Canada to China for more than 1 year. Safe and convenient.

http://www.eecalling.com/p/?id_from_coun...
Reply:Go to http://www.cheapcallcredits.com . You can buy a $5 card and it will last for 7 hrs 38 mins with a 3 min rounding, or a $5 card that will last for 4 hrs 54 mins with 1 min rounding.

i have a cell phone

but i need more minutes and i don't want to get a whole plan

where could i get a card?

I DONT WANT A PLAN! JUST THE CARD

=]

Do pre paid phone cards work with cell phones?
A prepaid phone card? It depends. If it is for prepaid cellular service, you need to have a prepaid cellular account. If it is just a calling card, then it will work with cell phones, but it won't work to give you more minutes. It will work to allow you to make international calls without paying the prices charged by your cellular service provider. I guess it could be interstate calls as well, but most service providers provide nationwide free long distance (in the US).
Reply:the card should work on your cell phone it just might make you run out of your cell phone minutes that what happened with me

Which Mobile Phone Companies not required personal info for their sim cards?

I have been using Telstra in the Brisbane area, but it required me to disclosed some personal information to activate a prepaid sim card. Which other mobile phone companies do NOT require any personal information, or at least requires only the minimal amount of it.

Which Mobile Phone Companies not required personal info for their sim cards?
I dont think there is a single company that will NOT require you to give personal information.

After 7/11 everyone has beefed up security. The government expects all cell service providers to verify customer information. So, you have no choice but to give them the information. After all.. its for security measures
Reply:there is no company that will NOT require you to give personal information.

Could I buy a phone from another company switch the sim cards and still use it?

I would like to know because I saw a cell phone that I might buy and it is not in my network but I know that you could switch sim cards when you buy an unlocked cell phone so I wanted to know is it for every phone basically... If someone could explain why or why not that would be helpful. Thank You.

Could I buy a phone from another company switch the sim cards and still use it?
no it wont work because the sim card is programed to work for that company and not the other.
Reply:Check out this article about unlocking phones.
Reply:No, you would have to unlock it because every company has their phones so it only works on their network. But phones from Sprint, T-Mobile and AT%26amp;T all use sim cards so you could just unlock it.
Reply:Not every phone - only GSM phones. CDMA phones (Verizon, Sprint, Alltel, MetroPCS, Cricket, US Cellular, etc.) don't use SIM cards.

How do you get free Cingular pay as you go phone cards?

How do you get free Cingular pay as you go phone cards?
The only free prepaid cards are the ones you get when you buy the phone. You can get them pretty cheaply, however, on Ebay.
Reply:You want a FREE cingular pay as you go card? The only way you'll get a free one is if sumone else buys it for you..other then that you have to pay $15, $25, $50, or $100 for them.

Which cell phone models can use SIM cards from different countries?

If I live in the Middle East and the US, can I buy one cell phone that will fit each regoin's SIM card?

Right now, I have a lower end Nokia. The SIM card holder will only fid SIM cards for the country I live in. I'm thinking if I shell out more money or go with a different model, I won't have to have two phones.

Thanks,

T.

Which cell phone models can use SIM cards from different countries?
it depends on the frequency it operates. i have a triband phone that works for 800/900/1800 Mhz. so, i can use it in countries that use gsm bands of 800/900/1800 Mhz.

check your phone on the net and verify the frequency it operates on and then check the countries you are going to to see what kind of gsm band they use.

the sim card is the same all over the world, it is general standard, so you don't have to worry about putting the sim inside the phone.

Is the Samsung M520 cellular phone compatible with 8GB MicroSDHC SD cards?

In the user manual, it states 2GB is the max. On Sprint websites and forums, it indicates 4GB cards will work. I would like to hear from someone who owns this phone and has tried using an 8GB card in it: Does it recognize the full capacity, and have you encountered any problems? I plan to use this phone as my primary MP3 player and really appreciate any help. Thanks!

Phone cards?

Just curious whether, if I call from Australia on a mobile (cellphone) to an American landline, in particular Cingular,

will the card still work as normal, excluding the higher charge rate?

or will the american number be charged as well?

Thanks.

Phone cards?
As long as the number you dial for the phone card is a local access number, you won't be charged for international calling, and will only use basic minutes.
