I am traveling to Phuket in a few days. If I purchased a phone card there can I all Australia? I want to buy one because I hear they are cheap, would anyone know how much they are?
Cheers
If I buy a phone card overseas can I call home?
Calling from Thailand to Australia: (currency is US dollar)
1. calling card, the best rate is 22.9 cents/min without connection or maintenance fee.
2. if you have a direct phone line and internet access, you can try another card, only 4.3 cents/min. Register 2 phone numbers online and talking through physical phone lines.
check the following link to compare and find the right choice:-

buy online with Paypal and credit card, receive instant PIN# by your email. Simple, fast and convenient.
Reply:definitaly, there is no doubt.
Reply:1) I liked fffrrreee's second option; although I think you should be able to get a SIM cheaper than Baht500 (like Baht200-300), I think there are even some at Baht99. This link will give you some more info about getting a Thai SIM and using it to make international calls:-
http://www.thailandtravelservices.com/Us...
2) A lot of internet cafes have Skype software on their PCs so if you have a Skype account already then you can call at Skype's rate. What is it, 3 cents a minute?
I find that Skype works much better on a high-speed internet line and I call Australia from Thailand on it quite a lot (as that's where I went to uni).

Reply:Here are your 2 options:
1. But an International Phone card at any 7-11. The only trick here is taht the phone card must work at the same phone booth. So look for a row of phone booths near your hotel - remember what logos are on (which phone companies they represent). Then buy the phone card that matches the booth. Ask the 7-11 person for international cards - they all have good rates.
2. Easier - if you have an AUstralian GSM phone, but a SIM card for 500 baht with a thai number. Put that SIM card into your Australian GSM phone and make international calls really cheap. when you are done making calls - switch the SIM card back to your Australian one. You can also make calls within thailand cheap with your thai SIM card. You can also buy recharge cards at any 7-11 (7-11 stores are everywhere)!
Reply:of course yes,,,,,,,, why not if it is internationl value
Reply:yes! i think u must opt 2 buy coz If u purchase a phone card there u can call Australia. they would cost 2 $ only.

How do phone cards work?
Im looking for a phone cards that can go with my cell phone.. I know that to activate it you have to dial a specific number and give them your pin.
My real question is though, do you have to dial that number ever single time i call someone? Or is it just a one time activation and then I call normally each time?
Any recommend a good phone card that is pretty cheap and is reliable? Thanks guys!

Why do Real estate agents & attorneys have self-pictures on their name cards, phone directories and billboards
Do they think they're celebrities?
Do they think they're hot?
seriously whats up with that?
Why do Real estate agents %26amp; attorneys have self-pictures on their name cards, phone directories and billboards
Ever notice with Real Estate agents that it looks like they all went to the same photographer? They all have the same insincere smile thing going on and they look stoned.
Reply:Not celebrities. And usually not too hot either! It's just one more way to be more memorable to people. Some people are really good with names, others not so good with names, but really good with faces. So if your business card has your picture on it, it's more likely someone will remember meeting you and hold on to your card for a longer time. Hopefully, that means they're more likely to call you when they actually need your services. Real estate agents use their business cards with clients and for networking with a broad variety of other business vendors: attorneys, home inspectors, contractors, mortgage lenders, etc. It's often helpful if THOSE people remember them too.

If someone calls you internationally with a phone card, Do you get charged?
Say your friend in England uses a calling card to Phone you, would you get charged any rates like general international fees despite him using a card?
If someone calls you internationally with a phone card, Do you get charged?
In Us and Canada usually you will still get charge unlike other countries where the caller is the one who only get charge but the charges are fixed whether your caller calls from another country or another state.

I want some creative help here...I have this huge collection of phone cards(hundreds) which have been only ...
used to call my special one..bf..now I am going to visit him after two years almost...can anyone tell me what way I can make a nice, creative and adoring use of them....to just make him happy? P.S. I am thinking numbers here...the cards have a ten digit code on them...and also they are white strips (5.5 cm x 23 cm)....with codes for different locations from Canada ....I mean you can either make me do something with the exact phone cards or if you can do something with the numbers..the ten digit codes I told you about....to make something fabulous out of numbers...thanks I would highly highly be obliged if any one of you might be able to give me the slightest idea....
I want some creative help here...I have this huge collection of phone cards(hundreds) which have been only ...
why not do something with the cards and the numbers,... take the cards and write the numbers in a blank address book...next to each number, write something down that you will do to him or for him that is unique to that number (like the call you made to him) write down 10 kisses on the back of the neck, breakfast in bed, a dozen pieces of his favorite candy, you know things like that...special things... drop the cards in a nice gift bag... have him shake the bag up... and pull out a card...and you both have fun seeing what he's won..there is no end for the use of the cards or the love that you have using them.
Reply:Make a scrapbook page. In one corner he'll be on the phone. In the opposite corner, there'll be a picture of you on a phone. Add an embellishment that looks like a phone cord between the two pictures. Add a phone card somewhere on the page.
Make a birdhouse/feeder and use the excess cards for shingles.
Make a mobile.
Reply:Glue them to a heavy piece of cardboard and cut it out in the shape of a heart.
Reply:you could do a scrap book by the month with the cards you have used as a basis and photos of him and you, save space at the end for the final photo of the two of you together.

Phone cards for Mexico?
My mom is going on a trip to Mexico and wants a phone card to call from Mexico to the United States. is there a cheap phone card to call from mexico to the US? Also, my mom and I have Sprint cell phones. Is there a service where we can get international minutes for a week?

The best rate is 8.9 cents/min calling from Mexico to USA. No maintenance fee. No Connection Fee.Rounding - 3 minutes

Reply:Those might be good options but I live in México and I´ve never heard of those companies.
She could try buying a LADATEL card 30 ,50 or 100 pesos, I recomend the 100 pesos one. With this card she can only call from public phones, but there are plenty of those everywere here in Mexico!!! and I think the fee is like 1 peso per minute which is more or less like 10 cents (i´m not really sure but the instruccions in the public phones have all the info, she can check it before buying the card, it´s very easy there´s one on every corner, and the card can be purchased in any grocery store, and many other places like hotels and big stores sell them too, she could try Sanborns, they sell the cards and there are phones near the rest rooms). And the public phones have instructions in english. There are another cards with similar names that are more complicated tu use because you use a code etc, etc, but no, this one is simple just insert it, dial and that´s it. Remember is Ladatel.
Reply:Nobelcom http://www.nvcards.com/ gives you 4.2 c/min rate with an access number in Mexico.
Another choice is Cloncom (a company from Argentina). See http://www.prismlongdistance.com/

On prepaid phone cards - what does 10 cents a mniute mean?
I'm kinda confused about prepaid phones, all the phones I see say 10 cents a minute and I think no contract/credit card charges. What does the 10 cents a minute mean, and how does it charge? When you buy the prepaid phone cards, does it mean it charges 10 cents a minute to the 25$ phone card you buy?
On prepaid phone cards - what does 10 cents a mniute mean?
it means 10 cents...a minute...durr
Reply:i'm pretty sure it means you get charged 10 cents every minute you talk on the phone. so yeah if you buy a $25 phone card, 10 cents would be taken out every minute you talk.
Reply:it means that each minute cost ten cents off your phone card so if you talked for 10 mins on a twenty dollar phone card you would have spent one dollar and still have 19 dollars left . hope that helps
Reply:yeah if u buy a $20 card then you have 200 mins...for each minute u talk it takes off $.10...be careful tho most of the time the round up to the next minute if you dont talk a full minute...
Reply:you are correct. You bought the card for $25, so they will charge you .10 a minute until your $25 is gone and then it end the call and you cant use it anymore. You cant go over so you dont need a credit card or anything. Thats why its called "pre-paid", cause you have already paid for the minutes when you bought it. hope this helps. So you get 250 minutes. which is 4 hours and 17 monutes.
Reply:yes.

Collect jail calls and phone cards?
a new system was put into place last november (with my phone company), stating that, ulness you set up a pre-paid account, you could not receive collect jail calls. my boyfriend has not been able to get through to me since, thus, i was wondering if a pre-paid phone card would allow him access?
Collect jail calls and phone cards?
What can those who run the jails and prisons be thinking by making it so difficult for inmates to maintain contact their loved ones!? Inmates with friends and family support are more likely to survive prison and less likely to be violent while in prison and after they are released.
Of course, because of the horrible overcrowding and the gangs, all inmates and guards are in danger of violence regardless of their efforts to avoid it. It's understandable that phone calls are recorded and can be tracked to phone numbers.
There are sometimes newspaper articles reminding Californians that inmate families, who can often least afford it, are paying for the lucrative contracts between the prisons and telephone companies.
There is little your boyfriend can do from inside. Please keep trying to find a prepaid card or whatever it takes that allows him to call you. It will make huge difference in his life. Good luck to you both.

Can calls made with a phone card be traced?
So You buy a 100 min calling card and call with the calling card froma pay phone--- traceable?
Can calls made with a phone card be traced?
no....just go right ahead!!!
Reply:depends... if this is a prepaid card, and called from a payphone that the phedz are not monitoring, then no.. the number you call is not going to come up on the phones outgoing call record, but the call to the access number will.. and if the phone is being monitored, and they see you make the call or whatever, they can seopena the records from the calling card company and get the information that way.. also,, if the person you are calling is being monitored, or tapped, then there incomming calls may be logged, and the callid for the call on there end will be the payphone..
(edit) if you use a call card, use cash to buy it, as it will be less likely to tie you to the purchace of the card..
Reply:Ok. What are you hiding? Usually it comes up as a different state and town calling. I think it depends where the card was created. I know someone in Nebraska that calls and it comes up Colorado.
Reply:There are maintain services for some phone cards. If your card is alike, you can request Call History records from Card's Customer Service: Calling Dates, From-To, Duration, and Charges. To learn more about calling cards visit International Phone Card Review

This seems to be a new trend with phone cards. Previously, my card used to show a number from Atlanta, GA. No more!! I would suspect many phone cards from a payphone would also show the pay phone number. Why use a pay phone? There is an EXTRA charge to use a pay phone with a calling card!!!

How much money is to call out of the country without using a phone card and using a home phone?
well I called PeurtoRico and I though it was a United state number and I called it and couldn't reach the person, so it said press 0 in case of an emergency so I did and no one picked up and a machine said, "the caller was not able to be reached , please call your service provider for further problems." and then I called again and it said the same thing. So how much money is it to call out of the country using a house phone and without a phone card? and how much will I pay?
How much money is to call out of the country without using a phone card and using a home phone?
It depends on where you called from and your current service plan. In the front of your local phone book should be a listing of the current calling rates. Usually a call to PR ranges from $0.01 to $0.05 a minute.
Also, because you were unable to reach anyone and did not leave a message it is possible you won't be charged at all.

While I know that the following answer is just about the most shocking response that anyone could offer you, hell life is dangerous so lets live it to the max.
With that in mind here we go.

You need to ask your phone company.
Yes shocking as it is only they can answer your question because they are the one who will be billing you for the calls.
Anyone else is just guessing.

If I want to reset security codes, etc. is it something that takes effect on the phone or the sim card? So basically, if someone else sets passwords on a phone with a different sim card, do I have to know the old passwords to set my own passwords on the same phone but different sim card?
Are security locks per phone or sim cards?
Yes you need to know the passwords because it's through the phones security settings
Reply:Through the phone.

I am going through the same thing. I ended up contacting correctionalbillingservices.com and they told me they are the only way you can unblock your phone. You can use Western Union if you dont have a debit or credit card. Also, depending on your phone company they can add it to your phone bill. I bought a phone card thinking he could use it and everyone thought I was dumb. I guess your not allowed to use these.
Reply:If memory serves me correctly...you can talk to your telephone provider about an "advanced payment" plan.
Additionally, if you use a "pre-paid" phone card with a cellular telephone...you can use that for incoming calls until the card has depleted its' funds.
Phone calls made from MOST jails are through a private service which also provides recording service for the staff to insure illegal activities are not occurring while the individual is incarcerated...so...the calls are expensive.
However, a pre-paid cellphone card should rectify your problem!
Best wishes!
Reply:I know that in the jail I work at the inmates are not allowed to have a pre-paid phone card and I imagine it's the same in most jails. They are able to make collect calls and their friends/families can opt for a pre-paid plan with an initial minimum deposit of $50.00 with Correctional Billing Services. The line may also have a block on it and you will have to have the block removed by calling them.
Reply:Which country? state? Call your state Dept of Corrections and ask about inmate prepaid cards. many states now offer that option (grudgingly... it is a popular concept with state prison bureaucrats that inmates should be further punished by making their families pay draconian prices for phone time....)
Costco MCI card 700 minutes for $20, State of Wa DOC prepaids almost $1 a minute... nice people huh?Good luck.

If he is in jail you need to look at your options.....perhaps you could find a new boyfriend....one not in jail
I know its not his fault....Take a hard look....almost everyone in jail is there because of someone else

Is it possible to use a wireless 'phone card' on a found phone?
I am a bum and looking for aluminum cans %26amp; plastic bottles to recycle I have come across several mobile phones.
Some of them expensive looking flip open phones
They must be cheap if they can be thrown away because the battery is dead or something.
Anyway I was thinking of trying to get a charger and extra batteries for one of these phones and then get a mobile phone card like those sold at 7/eleven.
Is this a valid idea or is there a flaw that I have not thought of?
If it is possible do I have to get a phone card that matches the phone?
For example I have two phones that look to be made by samsung one is a 'mobile' and one is 'sprint' could I use a 7/eleven card on either or would I need to use a mobile or sprint card respectively or is there another option?
Is it possible to use a wireless 'phone card' on a found phone?
It depends on which service the phone is providing if it is a contract phone you have to either go to the dealer to add more minutes..however when you do add those minutes you may have to provide the name or security code that was set when the phone was bought. or you can turn it into a pay as you go phone but you will still need to go to a dealer and have them transfered in your own account which will give you your own number and then you can add minutes by a mobil phone card from that provider
Reply:If they are indeed "found" phones they would have to be prepaid phones in order to use those cards. If they are "thrown-out" they are probably broke and deactivated. If they are stolen and the original owner has deactivated them and you attempt to use them you won't be able to.

Need to find pre paid phone company that does not use cards?
I have a pre paid that shuts me off if I don't buy mins on an exact date I only use the phone for emergency I have 60 min but I have no phone # they shut me off please help if you know one that does'nt use cards to shut you off
Need to find pre paid phone company that does not use cards?
All of them do that. Verizon has a plan called easy pay, and it is a pre-paid service. Has all the perks of a contract, without the contract. You have to pay on a certain day though.
Reply:That's just not possible.
Every cell phone works with a SIM card inside.
Either it has to be pre-paid or with a contract.
And every company has to make they're money.
A suggestion: when you see that your "time" is almost over, just use your cell phone instead of your home phone...
at least you use it!
Reply:Virgin will allow you to go every 90 days Unless you've selected one of our special Top-Up options like Auto Top-Up or Service Preserver you'll need to Top-Up at least $20 every 90 days to keep your service working... even if you have money in your balance.
So if you go too long without Topping-Up, your account will be deactivated and if that happens, your balance will expire. But way before that ever happens, they will send an alert to your phone reminding you that it's time to Top-Up.

Calling a UK cell from a cell phone or calling card?
I used a calling card to call a UK call phone from my US land line and got far less minutes then the phone card promised. I used it all on one call. When I called customer service they said something about taxes and surcharges. Does anyone know what they are talking about? Are these fees also charged when you call from your cell phone or landline or just when you use calling cards? I can't figure out the cheapest way to be making these calls. Any advice is appreciated.
Calling a UK cell from a cell phone or calling card?
There are usually fees and such with using phone cards.
You can see variety of different calling cards to UK with rates as low as 6.7c/min at ZS Comm Global. The phone cards with the cheapest rates require you to use local access numbers instead of the toll free access.

1) Taxes will be applied to every minute you call. I.e. they say calling rate is 10 cents / min and tax is 15%, then the charged rate is 11.5 cents / min.
2) Surcharge. There are some surcharges, like connection fee, maintenance fee.
Connection fee will be charged every time the call is established.
Maintenance fee will be charged some time regularly, the first charge is within 1 day after your first call, the subsequent charge period will be 1 week or 2 weeks depending on calling card company.
3) Rounding. It is a factor to affect your calling minute.
All these surcharge rules can be found on the post of calling card. If you buy online, you can find them on the website.

Reply:Calls to cell phones in Europe are more expensive than to the landline. Make sure to buy a card that offers the lowest cost without surcharges. The best type of cards are cards created specifically to call cell phones like "Talk United Kingdom Cellular" at 11.4 c/min or "Call UK Cellular" at 13 c/min. See http://www.nvcards.com/ for details.
Reply:I call the UK. The best Is to use Calling cards. its cheaper than the phone. and you can control your call. Calling card it tells you how much time it will give you for this call and before one minute its done it will Beep (that's mean the call will hung up.

If you buy online, you can find them on the website.
http://www.eecalling.com/references/Quic...
Calling from USA to UK cell phone, the best rate is 12.3 cents/min with maintenance fee, or 14.1 cents/min without maintenance fee. NO connection fee at all.

Can you put a sims card from a pay-as-you-go phone into a different phone?
Can you put a sims card from a pay as you go phone in a bill phone? Put without activateding the bill. Cant you just buy a $15 phone card for the new one instead of paying the bill. And if you can do this will the bill phone have its own charateristics or will it have the pay-as-you-go phone characteristics?
Thanks Aaron
i have a filp phone (pay-as-you-go) and im wanting to put its sim card in a razar or blackjack(bill-phone).
Can you put a sims card from a pay-as-you-go phone into a different phone?
I've tried it and couldn't get it to work.
I even tried doing it the other way around.
Maybe it was just me though.

Question about PHONE CARDS?
Have you had strange experiences with minutes mysteriously disappearing from your phone card? Like one call, you have 700 minutes left, and the next call you have 600, even though you only made a short call in between? I think some of these cards are pretty fraudulent. I did have one card that took me instantly from $10 to nothing at all, in one phone call (the call lasted a few seconds), and then its customer service line was disconnected!
Question about PHONE CARDS?
Read the fine print. That 700 minutes is probably 700 units. They may also charge you units for call set up or ring no answers. Thats where your "minutes" are going.
Reply:lol very funny i never had that happen to me
Reply:When this happens it's because you are not using minutes but units. Cards usually take away an insane amount of units even if the call didn't go through.
Reply:Using it on a payphone or a home phone or operator assisted all have different charges. Its the minutes game that all telcos play.
Reply:If your calling from a pay phone then your minutes get used up, they have surchages on phone cards when you call from a payphone. I've seen some where it's 14 minutes for the call and 32 minutes when you call.
Reply:I've had the same thing happen to me before, it's like the other person said if you're calling from a payphone they charge extra minutes, and if that's not the case then i don't know what's up. maybe you could report it to the better business bureau.

Cell Phone Cards?
I have a kind of crappy phone and my friend has this really nice phone. He's buying a new one pretty soon and doesn't need the old one. We both have at%26amp;t and existing service plans. would it be possible to just switch the cards in our cell phone and me put my card in his old one and he put his card in his new phone? sorry if its confusing
thanks
Cell Phone Cards?
technically ... the switch should work.
the cell companies just lock the provider, i.e. the phone will work with a card from a particular vendor only. i assume the new phone your friend is getting is from at%26amp;t as well, then you people shouldn't have a problem. but why dont you just switch the cards %26amp; see?

I have tried it before with one cingular sim card and one t-mobile sim card. But will cingular let me activate another sim card on the same cell phone that another cingular sim card was activated on? Thanks

u can use 2 simcards on 1 phone from the same carrier. if its an unlocked phone u could use a simcard from another carrier

Reply:I have Nextel and I can put a Boost sim card in it. In the old Boost phones, you can also put a Nextel sim card. When Boost caught on that Nextel customers were buying cheaper Boost phones and putting in Nextel sim cards, Boost changed their software. A new model of a Nextel Motorola runs for about $350.00. The same phone model that Boost sells for about $200.00. Nextel has a real racket going. My point is that if your phone is unblocked and it's an older model, it may allow you to use two sim cards.
Reply:As long as the phone will recognise both cards then there should be no problem
Reply:yes, but you need to unblock the phone and buy a dual sim adaptor. With the adaptor you can just go to conf. and change of sim.

Phone plan with monthly fee for texting, but prepaid cards for calls?
Is there a way to not have a phone plan (and use prepaid cards instead) but also have texting? I definitely don't want a "Pay $0.xx per text" kind of thing. T-Mobile offers 400 messages for $5 a month, 1000 for $10 a month, and unlimited for $15 a month as an add on to a plan, but is it possible to get that (or something like it) without a plan?

Yes, the Alltel prepaid plan has the option of unlimited texting. You have the choice of 3 options for $1 a day.

I want to make a phone call to Korea from the US. What is the best phone card for making a call?
I'm not sure about rates, so I'm wondering what should I know about when buying a phone card. The Do's and Do Not's. That sort of thing.
I want to make a phone call to Korea from the US. What is the best phone card for making a call?
Check out this site for phone cards. They tell you the rates, and offer some good calling cards for international.
Reply:Check http://www.eecalling.com, some of the cards don't have Maintenance Fee, some have, and Rounding minutes the lower the better, all depends on how you used the cards.
you can buy your card anywhere at any time, you get the PIN NO. instantly after you paid.

Reply:I would suggest www.nobelcom.com. I use that to call to China. I pay $20.00 and get about 30 hours of talk time if I call a non-cell phone.
Reply:u can find phone cards at chinese supermakets and stores which sells for around $18-20, their rates are really low
Reply:Well, phone cards can be tricky. First off, make sure that there is "no connection fee" and read ALL the small print to make sure that there are no additional charges. Spend time comparing all of the rates for making a call to Korea as well. I live in Canada so I don't know if you have the same cards in th USA but the one I've noticed to be the best is CiCi. Good luck!

Does anyone know of a good site to get international phone cards from?
i searched and found a few but was hoping for some personal experience - I'm looking to call australia
Does anyone know of a good site to get international phone cards from?
Some of what the guy from tel3 said is true but there are clean phone cards too, just be careful to select a reliable company. It means cards without fees at all. There is one call mega clean, the rate is around 2.5 cents to call to Australia, you can find it at viapin or telecard.
Reply:I highly recommend PhoneBell http://www.phonebell.net/

Time Dial searches the top sites for phone cards. It is the only phone card site that calculates and compares the full cost of calling cards including all rates fees and surcharges.
Answer 6 questions and it tells you how much a phone card will cost you for a given period with your stated usage. This way you get the minutes stated.

What is the cheapest pre-paid phone card in the US?
I need to buy a card. I am looking for the cheapest one to make calls from the US to the US. This is not a card for a celphone, is a card to be used from a regular phone. I will really appreciate your help.
What is the cheapest pre-paid phone card in the US?
Try getting one at your local Sam's Club. If you have a membership, they cost $0.347 per minute. More if you call from a pay-phone or outside the US. Work great from any land-line phone, either business or private home. Can also be recharged either on the phone or at any Sam's Club store.
Reply:Depends on how you use the card. If you going to use all of the minutes up on one call, seek the el-cheapo cards from the party stores that sell to the lowest form of society. Weave yourself past the drunks and crack heads, and you'll find the owner has a stock of phone cards for sale. These cards I've found out to be very bad as in wanting to make multiple phone calls, and they'll charge you the longer you don't use the card. These cards are only good for the one long phone call.
For multiple phone calls....
Dollar General - They go through Sprint, and any card with sprint logo is very secure. For $10, I get 250 minutes, with no fee for each call, and it expires August 2005, and I activated it last month.
I have yet to find a major phone carrier that is cheaper for any phone card.
Reply:At viapin.com, you can buy a calling card called Mega Clean %26amp; Stable, the rate to call within the USA is 1.8 cents per minute, that´s the cheapest one I´ve found and it is quite good.
Reply:Well the lowest iv'e seen was only $10 dollars for virgin mobile but u must pay with a credit card...

How can calls placed through a prepaid phone card be tracked?
I want to know where my spouse has called using a pre-paid phone card. I have the access number and PIN, and it is through AT%26amp;T, but I'm not sure what else I need to get the information I want.
How can calls placed through a prepaid phone card be tracked?
call at%26amp;t and ask if they can give you a list of numbers that its been used to call. don't tell them you're checking up on your hubby just say you bought it and noticed there weren't as many minutes on it. they will probably ask for the number and the pin. obviously you think he's cheating and if he has to use a pre-paid phone card he probably is otherwise he wouldn't have to hide it....pretty savy but not all that smart...cheaters always get found out and the truth always comes out. confront him after you get your info. too if he is using it from your home phone or cell you can also check your phone records. good luck and good for you

What phone card works best to call a cell phone in Manila,Philippines from San Jose.CA?
I'm looking for a good value, with good clarity on the phone call. I have found cards that cost $5-$6 for about 20-25 minutes, which isn't great--and the call is often dropped several times, or sounds very bad.
I have tried Yahoo Messenger with voice also, with mixed results...
Any Ideas??

If someone callse you how can you find out if the number shows up on caller ID is from a pre-paid phone card??
How do you know if someone calls you using a pre-paid phone card?
There is no way to know for certain. However, many calling cards will appear to come from some caller ID that may or may not be real and this can be a clue.

Can there be a cell phone that takes in and works with 2 or more different cards from 2 fonecompanies?
i mean to use such cell phone with 2 to 5 cards from as many different phone companies.thank you for your answer.
Can there be a cell phone that takes in and works with 2 or more different cards from 2 fonecompanies?
Most of the newer model cell phones currently on the market contain a SIM card that links that phone to your account with the company. If you and your friend both have Cingular, and both of your cell phones have SIM cards in them, you could switch out the cards in the phones so that your friend's phone will work off your Cingular account, and vice versa. However, cell phones are set with a security feature that prevents SIM cards from other cell phone companies from working. For example, if you have Cingular and your friend has T-Mobile, and you switch out your SIM cards, then neither phone would work. I believe they do this as an incentive to keep people from switching to another company. Since you would have to purchase a completely new phone in order to switch companies most people would rather stick the with cell phone company they already have. To answer your question, it is possible to use a single cell phone with multiple SIM cards, and thus having multiple phone numbers with just one phone. However, since only one SIM card can be used at a time it would not be possible to have both lines operational at the same time. However, it is not possible to use multiple SIM cards from different phone companies with a single phone. Even though many carriers offer exactly the same model phones, each carrier puts a security feature into their model that prevents their competition from being able to successfully operate their phone.

Anyone ever work at a call center, recharging peoples phone card minutes?
I'm getting into what looks to be a great career path, I just want to know what to expect from a job like this. I will be processing peoples wireless phone card minutes, doesn't sound too complicated but appearently there is a whole week long orientation so I just hope i'm not getting in over my head, after all this will be my first 'real' job.
Anyone ever work at a call center, recharging peoples phone card minutes?
Sounds easy enough. Just listen and take in as much as you can so you know what your doing whn you start.
Reply:Hmmm...
Well, I'm not sure if it's the exact same thing you are speaking of. But I know of someone who worked at a call center of some type, and I think it was for Cingular. They took a lot of stress on a daily basis...they had to 'decide' whether to credit this and that person's minutes back for this and that reason. Of course, with all Customer Service positions...people can be very rude. They want everything, and they want it now...they also want you to read their minds without describing their problems. Or, they want you to tell them what is wrong with their phone/plan/minutes right over the phone, because they say that something isn't working properly and they "don't want the service if it isn't any good." lol
Do you enjoy talking on the phone and have a good phone voice? I'm a guy...I get sick and tired of people (credit card companies, etc.) mistaking me for a 'ma'am' on the phone, because I have an odd accent. But if you don't mind talking on the phone and repeating the same words/procedures to someone all hours of the day...then by all means, go for it. :-)

If I use a phone card to make an international call from my cellular, will it count against my monthly minutes
I want to call my girlfriend in Brunei from the United States. I have 700 minutes a month from Verizon. So if I talk to her for 100 minutes on a calling card, will the 100 minutes only come off the calling card balance, or will the minutes also be deducted from my Verizon balance? Please help me! I've never made an international call or used a phone card before!
If I use a phone card to make an international call from my cellular, will it count against my monthly minutes
Yes, because you are calling from your cell phone to the international calling operator service that redirects your call from there to wherever you are calling to. So you will be charged for the rate of the call from your cell to the calling card operator. And also the minutes will come from your calling card as well because that charges for the call from the calling card operator to wherever you call.
Reply:It will be deducted from your monthly minutes also. The calling card only reduces the price of the call per minute.
Reply:Both. Cause pretty much anything you do on your cell uses minutes and if you're using the card that's using minutes too....
Reply:I think it will take off the plan minutes on cell phones

Will a prepaid phone card show up on my bill?
I need to make a private call on my land line that wont show up on the phone bill, as my room mate is the one that pays it and frankly, I don't want to have to face unwanted questions. It's a complicated situation. If a but a prepaid phone card and use it, will it show up on the bill? Also, will my number still be blocked?
Will a prepaid phone card show up on my bill?
The destination number will not show, but the access number you dial will be shown on the bill of land line. The access number will not charge the land line user.
If you dial local access number, no surcharge will be occurred. If you dial toll free access number, surcharge will deduct from your calling card instead of land line.
As per your situation, you can use calling card to make long distance calls and no extra charge billed to your roommate. I think it is a good way for you and your roommate.
Reply:the only thing that MIGHT appear on your bill is the access number to the calling card, not the actual person you called, and only that depending on how your phone company prints out your bill.. as the call to the calling card access number will either be local or toll free it proballay will not be listed on the bill at all..

What is the best kind of phone card to use from Iraq to jersey?
My husband is in the military and it currently in Iraq due to the fact that there is no one monitoring the DSN phones he has to use a phone card on a pay phone, we have been using AT%26amp;T phone card and recharging it but i put $50 worth of minutes (1000 units) (witch ends up being $67 with tax and the recharging surcharge) and he only get to chat for around 80min or less if its more than 1 call. to me this is a little outrageous my father-in law can buy a $5 phone card from the Asian store and talk for at least 25min (also calling internationally). is there a phone card out there is is designed for military or what phone card has the best rate for calling from Iraq?

PX Military stores give discounts on phone cards usually.
The problem with phone cards are they charge up to the next minute. Plus the connect minutes. So they all basically stink.
Its alot cheaper what your paying then dialing direct I tell ya!
They are making a fortune off of us!
Good Luck to you, and God Bless!

Does caller ID show my number when using a phone card?
I need to call customers from time to time but I don't want to reveal my # if I'm not calling from the office (I split time between office and home.) Would using a phone card cause my number to be "unavailable"?
Does caller ID show my number when using a phone card?
The phone number might show up, but it's the number for the calling card. It looks like an out of state or out of country phone number. It (the name) usually comes up eithere Out of Area, Unavailable, No Name, or nothing at all.
Reply:No. At the most it would show the phone card company number and not yours. It may also only show "unavailable".
Reply:It shows some whacked out 1-800 number. Try calling your cell phone from there with the card and see what happens. If you don't have a cell, call a friend with caller ID and ask what number they saw.

Can a GMS phone be used in the United States with a sim card, without paying for a service?
I need a triband phone, I live in the States, but travel. Ideally, I would like to call the UK from here, call here from the UK and call my sister twenty miles away. I want to use a prepaid phone card. Do I need to pay for service, such as Cingular, or may I use a Sim card? Use one sim for the States and another for the UK?
Can a GMS phone be used in the United States with a sim card, without paying for a service?
Yes! What you need is prepaid service. This will allow you to use one SIM in the US without having to sign a contract or anything, and a local card when in the UK. You could use service in the US for both, but it will cost you ALOT. A SIM card is basically your activated service and phone #. So, what you need to do is go to a Cingular store and activate prepaid service and you will get a SIM card for free. You will have to pay for the airtime and an extra fee for international long distance calling (it's $1.49/min to landline or $1.68/min to a mobile for the UK). Or, you can just purchase a 3rd party prepaid phone card and use their cheaper long distance rates and just pay for the airtime. You can check out the Cingular plans here (I would reccomend GoPhone pay as you go for you):

Hope that helps! :) Let me know if you need any further assistance. Don't forget to choose me for best answer!!!

Hi Rebecca! I tried to e-mail you but it was not yet confirmed, so it did'nt go through. In response to your question:
Basically, the SIM card you have to get @ the Cingular or other service provider's store. That's really the only place you can get a SIM card in the US. Once you've got your SIM activated, you can go ahead and start calling anywhere you want, to the UK or where ever... but, the long distance rates on prepaid that they will hit you with can be ALOT! So I was just suggesting that you could also get a prepaid long distance rate card. Not a SIM card, just a 3rd party calling card just like you would use to call the UK from a landline. Like the one's sold here:

They usually have better rates, so you could use that to make it a little bit cheaper! Hope that helps, good luck :)

How can I get a copy of the phone numbers I have called using my AT&T PrePaid Phone Card"?
I need the list of numbers I have called using my AT%26amp;T PrePaid Phone Card. I am looking up specific numbers.
How can I get a copy of the phone numbers I have called using my AT%26amp;T PrePaid Phone Card"?
I do not think you can. Cell phones do keep list of incoming and outgoing calls in memory. This will have a limit, ten or so depending upon memory size and features. SIMS card phones keep your telephone book on the the SIMS card so when you change models you use the same sims and the phonebook moves to the new phone.

How do you use a internation prepaid phone card?
call the number on the back of the card, then it will ask for the pin, thats the scratch off code. it should tell you how many minutes you have then ask you to dial the number. for outside the US dial 011+country code+the persons number.

My husband carries two phone cards. He says he wants to have them to use in case his cell phone isn't working
He was out ot town and I mistakenly got a receipt from a hotel he was at with five phone calls on it, using his calling cards. Of couse, there is no way to discover the numbers he called! He said he was calling me but it never showed up on my phone.
My husband carries two phone cards. He says he wants to have them to use in case his cell phone isn't working
Oh my dear, he is SOOOOOO Busted! I will tell you exactly how to get the information you want...PAY ATTENTION CHEATERS I am letting the cat out of the bag!!!!!
He is lying, of course. What, you wouldn't accept a collect call???? LOL...ROFLMFAO!!!! Please tell him to come up with something better than that. Bad enough he cheats on you, now he is insulting your intelligence. He should leave you with a little dignity if nothing else. By the way, he IS cheating, the phone cards were the clue...the lie is the proof.
Here is how you eliminate the need for phone cards. You can get a 1-800 number for your home phone, it costs you little or nothing unless he calls you, then you pay something like 10 cents a minute for the incoming call. He can call from anywhere, no cost. He can call you and you can call him back wherever he is. Works great, we have it on our phone for the same reason your husband used as a lame excuse, and for the kids to call us.
About the phone cards, sorry, but there IS INDEED a way to know exactly who he called and for how long. And you can do it from right where you are sitting reading this. Get the card and go to their website (they all have a website) you will be prompted to enter your PIN number (it is on the card) and then you can go to "call history" also to purchase history (if he has been re-filling them online) and you can see when he "re-filled" the cards, when he made calls, how long and the number dialed. Hehehehehe.
I know this because I met my wife while working in Ukraine and had to return to the US before her visa was approved and we were apart for 6 months during our engagement. ( I DID visit her 4 times) I used these cards to call her everyday and I bought one card in the store, then "re-filled" it online. On the website I could get an entire printout of all calls, and the dates and amounts I spent buying these cards and used it to show the USCIS that I had an ongoing relationship with my wife (then fiancee) in order to qualify for the fiancee visa. It was good enough for the government! We still use them to call friends and family in Ukraine...much cheaper by the way!
All you need is the card and the PIN number. It does not matter if he bought it online or in a store. If he has never been to the website (maybe he is buying cards one-by-one at the gas station) you can still get the info. You will just have to sign-up for an "account" first. Just your name and email and make a password, very simple. The site will give you the details on that PIN.
I had established "PIN-less" dialing for my normally used home and cell phones and the site also showed which phones were set up for this. Wouldn't THAT be a kick in the pants??? Maybe he set up your home phone to speed dial his girlfriend using this card!!! The "speed dial" is set up with the phone card, you cannot tell on your home phone.
Edit...while I agree with another answerer that having a phone card does not mean you are cheating, combine that with lying and VOILA!!!! I have a phone card for cheap calls to Europe, BUT I don't lie and say it is for home and the calls were to my wife AND she knows exactly how to get my call history if she wanted, we both share the account (by the way, there is no need for the "card" itself) I established the account, we re-fill it online and can use it from any phone anywhere, anytime. If our son, who goes to a university in Russia, wants to speak to us he calls one of our phones and we call him back. So there ARE legitimate reasons for married people to have them, but there is no need to LIE about it!!!!!!!!
Reply:He is definitely hiding something from you! My ex use to do the same thing and when I finally got to the truth, he was using the phone cards to avoid his lovers # appearing on the bill. No offense, but your guy must really think you are dumb. You need to catch him in the act!!! Depending on which cell phone carrier you have, you should be able to call them up (if you are an authorized user on the account) and request a trace be put on his phone. Tell them that you believe that a co-worker is using the cell without permission, but cannot catch them. Your cell must be kept in an area of your workplace due to company policies, but you must take it in with you for emergency purposes. Understand what I am getting at?
I hope this helps you, be strong and good luck!
Reply:Yeah...sure.
If he's calling you at home...then why is it necessary to use a phone card?
Unless you're making telephone calls that you have no wish to have them show up on the bill. I'd tend to think that's the case and not that line of crap he fed you.
Man...can't you guys come up with anything more plausable then that?

My boyfriend was in Iraq and is now stationed in Germany. He recommends that I use a phone card called "CTA Africa" for five dollars. That's how I stay in touch with him overseas. I get them from almost any gas station. There are others available there but I've never tried them.

Phone cards for a friend going to iraq?
My boyfriend was in Iraq and is now stationed in Germany. He recommends that I use a phone card called "CTA Africa" for five dollars. That's how I stay in touch with him overseas. I get them from almost any gas station. There are others available there but I've never tried them.
Reply:It depends
i think you should call a special store or something

Can I use an international phone card even though my home phone service does not support long distance calls?
I was deciding to buy an international calling card; I just don't know if I'll be able to use it with my home phone because my phoneline service does not support long distance calling. Does the international calling card I buy ignore the fact that I cannot make long distance calls? Thank you for your help.
Can I use an international phone card even though my home phone service does not support long distance calls?
of course you can!!! because you are using the calling-cards toll-free number!!!
I always use a calling card to call my family overseas!!!
its much cheaper then any old phone provider.....and there are so many real good calling cards on the market....
Reply:Yes, infect this is what the calling cards are made for
Reply:Yes, you can. To place long distance calls with phone card, all you need is a touch-tone telephone. First, dial the toll free access number provided, and then wait for a prompt to input your PIN number. You will then hear another message stating the value that remains on that specific PIN. Next, dial your destination telephone number. A final recorded message will state how many connect minutes are available to that phone number/calling destination. For more details see instructions for your phone card. International Phone Card Review
Reply:you definately need to get a phone card that has a 1-800 # on the back that you call and then you put in the card #. Some cards have an access # thats going to be long distance, so u wont be able to use it!!!
Reply:Yes, you can use the phone card to make international call even though your land phone not supporting long distance calls.
It is cheaper actually. That's what I have been doing for years.
Normally, the international phone card should have a list of local # or 800 for you to call. Then, it will ask you to enter the code of the phone card, then it will ask you the international phone #.
Reply:Yes you can; on the phone card you have a local access number or a toll free; in fact you dial that number and everything is done after you get connected to the local # or the toll free.
Reply:Yes. Definitely, you can use calling cards via local call service. Because calling cards provide you local access number or toll-free number to connect to their service.
My home phone service doesn't support long distance calling either. I always use calling cards to make long distance calls.
I use http://www.eecalling.com to compare and buy calling cards online. I can buy it anytime anywhere only if I can access Internet.
Reply:I don't have long distance service on my land line or cell phone, but I use prepaid international phone cards all the time. The land line also accepts 10-10-297.....just use that as a prefix, then 1, then your ten digit number. They bill your phone company and it is added onto your regular phone bill. Works for me.

If I use a international phone card to call mexico on my cell phone, will my cell phone charge me?
I called Mexico from my cell and I used up a phone card. Will there be any charges on my phone bill?
If I use a international phone card to call mexico on my cell phone, will my cell phone charge me?
By using your international calling card, you are in effect making a local call, or a toll-free call. You will only be charged by your cell-phone company for whatever charges would normally apply to a local call made during that same time. So as long as you are calling a number for the international calling card, then from there calling the number in Mexico, there should be no long distance charges imposed by your cell phone company.
Reply:It depends for 1) your cell phone carrier. I know if you use a USA calling card it will charge you normal rates to call in the USA to Someone in the USA. I do believe that if the calling card number is an USA number, it should be free...(you will have to pay basic airtime fees).

Foreign Phone cards?
I need to learn some information about those phone cards you see in UK Newsagents, saying phone Phillipines, or USA for 3p a minute? how do they work? how much do they cost?
Foreign Phone cards?
If they are like the ones I use in Greece, you buy a card for, say, 5 Euro. There is a panel on the back which you scratch off to find your unique number. You then ring the company phone number stated on the card - then enter your unique card number - followed by the telephone number overseas. Usually you are then told how many minutes you can speak for your 5 Euro.
Here in Greece, I can phone the UK and speak for 90 minutes with a 5 Euro card, so they are well worth it!
I assume the UK ones work in a similar way.
Reply:they can empty ur pocket
Reply:Check out this one Fabuloso phone card, "google it"
Reply:You could always try one of the VOIP providers to make calls via the internet. In many instances they are free. Below is the internet address for one of these:-

Can I use a regular international phone card with yahoo voice?
I dont have a phone number, just yahoo voice, and i want to buy an online international phone card to call my relatives from my computer with yahoo voice. Thanks!
Can I use a regular international phone card with yahoo voice?
No, it doesn't work that way.........but the yahoo rates are much cheaper then any calling card !! You have to call right from the softpad!
I also use voice.yahoo.com because they are cheaper then skype...
Reply:Yes, you can do that. But, it isn't necessary.
Yahoo Voice will call the same destinations that most calling cards call to.
So, if you used Yahoo Voice to call your calling card gateway, you would now be paying two fees instead of one.... the Yahoo Voice rate + the calling card rate.
You would only do that if the calling card service could call to destinations that Yahoo Voice did not connect to. Then you would call the CC gateway with Yahoo.
Otherwise, Yahoo Voice by itself should be just fine.
--------------------------------
Ok, well in that case, then try using Yahoo Voice to call the calling card gateway.
If it doesn't work, it is probably an issue with Yahoo Voice being able to send DTMF tones through the calling card gateway for dialing. In which case, you will need to try using a different VoIP service that handles DTMF tones more reliably. Like Skype, Gizmo5, Efonica, CallCentric, InPhonex.

If you switch 2 nextel camera phone sims cards, will the pictures transfer?
Please I need real true information because I cannot lose my pictures.
If you switch 2 nextel camera phone sims cards, will the pictures transfer?
NO and BE CAREFUL...you dont EVER want to just switch out the cards. this can cause damage to the phone. It doesnt always...but it can. the only two ways are: 1. take both to a sprint store and they MIGHT be able to transfer the pics along with the phonebook (depends upon phone models) Also its best to take it to the store you bought it from cause you are liable to charged for this service if you go to a different store. and 2. if you have been sending the pics you take via picture mail, then they are backed up at sprint.com jsut sign in and go to picture mail.
Reply:no they will not, the photos are all stored on the phone. the only thing that transfers is your telephone numbers( if when added are stored to the sim card)
Reply:No, they wont transfer. Pictures are stored in the phone not the card
