Collect jail calls and phone cards?

a new system was put into place last november (with my phone company), stating that, ulness you set up a pre-paid account, you could not receive collect jail calls. my boyfriend has not been able to get through to me since, thus, i was wondering if a pre-paid phone card would allow him access?

Collect jail calls and phone cards?
I am going through the same thing. I ended up contacting correctionalbillingservices.com and they told me they are the only way you can unblock your phone. You can use Western Union if you dont have a debit or credit card. Also, depending on your phone company they can add it to your phone bill. I bought a phone card thinking he could use it and everyone thought I was dumb. I guess your not allowed to use these.
Reply:If memory serves me correctly...you can talk to your telephone provider about an "advanced payment" plan.

Additionally, if you use a "pre-paid" phone card with a cellular telephone...you can use that for incoming calls until the card has depleted its' funds.

Phone calls made from MOST jails are through a private service which also provides recording service for the staff to insure illegal activities are not occurring while the individual is incarcerated...so...the calls are expensive.

However, a pre-paid cellphone card should rectify your problem!

Best wishes!
Reply:I know that in the jail I work at the inmates are not allowed to have a pre-paid phone card and I imagine it's the same in most jails. They are able to make collect calls and their friends/families can opt for a pre-paid plan with an initial minimum deposit of $50.00 with Correctional Billing Services. The line may also have a block on it and you will have to have the block removed by calling them.
Reply:Which country? state? Call your state Dept of Corrections and ask about inmate prepaid cards. many states now offer that option (grudgingly... it is a popular concept with state prison bureaucrats that inmates should be further punished by making their families pay draconian prices for phone time....)

Costco MCI card 700 minutes for $20, State of Wa DOC prepaids almost $1 a minute... nice people huh?Good luck.
Reply:Try this

Reply:sorry,

If he is in jail you need to look at your options.....perhaps you could find a new boyfriend....one not in jail

I know its not his fault....Take a hard look....almost everyone in jail is there because of someone else

NOT MY FAULT
Reply:You should bake a cake for him and hide a cellphone inside
