We have a debate at home which is cheaper in calling overseas, use a phone card or call direct?

The profiliferation of phone cards gives the impression that using it rather than calling directly from landline is cheaper. Am I correct to say that calling direct is cheaper? In my opinion phone cards are to lure more business by the telecom companies who are also profiting from the sale of phone cards.

Reply:phonecard, unless you have VoiP....I get 6 European countries free, but when I call Asia, I use voice.yahoo.com.....if I call southamerica I use suiteone.com......I use the cheapest way to call, and I know how much it is for every country I call....
Reply:phone card is the way to go.
Reply:It depends which country you're trying to call. Most of the time, though, using a PHONE CARD is CHEAPER. I should know, I make a lot of overseas calls.
