Calling cards and phone booths?

I'm planning on visiting Canada - if i get a calling card can i use is from a public phone booth? or do i have to get a landline?

Most calling cards work from telephone booths. That's why they were designed in the first place- for people on the go so that they would not have to carry pocket change.





Be aware that there is usually a surcharge for using the card from a payphone. It's to reimburse the payphone owner/company for the use of their phone.





Check with your local phone comany. Many of them can send you a card that allows you to make calls and bills you later on your local phone bill. Ask the rates. Otherwise, you'll need to buy pre-paid cards, and they can get used up very quickly.

but... if you are going to use a calling card from a phone where you have free local calling (perhaps the hotel allows free local calling) then you can get a calling card with a local access number... cards with local access numbers are usually cheaper then cards with toll free access numbers..

Reply:You can use it the same way that you use it at home. It just take longer punching in all those numbers. Of couse you need to put the coin in the public phone first so you ca dial out.
