Simple Cell Phone Question Regarding SIM Cards?

I'm on T-mobile and I was wondering if I could upgrade my phone by just buying a phone and then using my SIM card that I already have.

I just want to know because I kind of want a sidekick and I can't wait until my contract is up next spring.

Thanks in advance!

Simple Cell Phone Question Regarding SIM Cards?
Sure, upgrades usually use your existing SIM anyway. You're free to buy a new phone any time. Probably you're eligible for partial discounts right now, based on your contract ending next year, which you can check online at my.t-mobile.com.
Reply:Yup, you can do that. This way you can keep your contacts, pics, etc. You may want to add the sidekick unlimited plan which includes unlimited txt, internet, email, etc. There also supposed to be a cool new sidekick coming out this year, check that out!

Enjoy your sidekick
Reply:Normally, you could buy a phone that you can just insert your card in... however, Sidekick is a phone that is offered by T-Mo only w/ a plan, and is therefore locked. However, if you want other phones, you can get them from sites like:

cti-miami.com

welectronics.com

And you can just look up phone sellers online. Trust me, there are some way better phones than the sidekick for texting. Look up some of HTC's phones.
Reply:Yes that will work. Once the sim card is in the new phone everything will be just as it did in the other phone.
Reply:Yes you should be able to. Should be very easy.
